Best Mountain Bike Trails in Snowdonia/Y Ilwybrav Beic Mynydd Gorav Yn Eryri
Including Coed Y Brenin, the Gwydyr Forest and Snowdon
The best mountain biking in the world is to be found in Wales - and that’s official. The Colorado based International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) recently declared that Wales’ selection of mountain biking centres ‘offer some of the best new trails in the world.....something for every rider’.
Local mountain bike activists Sue Savege, Paul Barbier and Dafydd Davis have ridden the mountains of Snowdonia forwards, backwards and even sideways at times, to put together this inspirational collection of routes.
Sweet singletrack, breathtaking views, gut busting loops and some unbelievable downhill, make Snowdonia one of the finest places on the planet to visit on a mountain bike.
‘The Best Mountain Bike Trails in Snowdonia’ provides full route descriptions on 25 of the best mountain bike trails in area, including colour photos, illustrations & accurate detailed maps. The guide is divided into four sections covering; Betws y Coed and the up and coming Gwydyr Forest; the ever popular Coed Y Brenin; Scenic Llanberis and the Snowdon area; as well as Conwy Mountain and the North Wales Coast.
Each section starts with details of local services and information on the area. Routes are divided into four levels: Family; Classic; Expert and Epic, with technical grades for difficulty from 1-5. It is famously difficult to grade mountain bike routes, but the guide has been written in such a way as help the rider choose the ideal ride for their level of expertise.
Mapping is based on standard Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 mapping, but the routes have been completely redrawn to highlight the most important information whilst giving the rider additional detail to help with getting the most out of the trail. |
